Former UFC bantamweight champion Miesha Tate is reportedly set for her next Octagon appearance in the division she once reigned.
Tate will return to the bantamweight division to face Julia Avila at a December 2nd UFC Fight Night. MMA Mania was the first to report the news of Tate vs. Avila.
Tate made the move to flyweight to face Lauren Murphy at UFC Fight Night: Yair Rodriguez vs. Brian Ortega. She fell short in her 125lb debut, losing by unanimous decision to Murphy.
Tate lost to Ketlen Vieira in her most recent bantamweight fight in Nov. 2021. She ended a five-year retirement earlier that year following consecutive losses to Raquel Pennington and Amanda Nunes.

Avila will return to the Octagon nearly 24 months after her last win. She was originally supposed to face Pennington in Dec. 2021 before suffering a serious injury that required a long rehab.
Before the injury, Avila won three of her first four UFC fights, including a finish of Gina Mazany in June 2020. She has also defeated Julija Stoliarenko and Pannie Kianzad during her FUC tenure.
The December 2nd headliner has yet to be named as of this writing, and the card is rumored to take place at the Target Center in Minneapolis.
