Conor McGregor’s Sparring Partner Promises ‘Really Sharp & Really Ready’ Irishman In Possible December UFC Return

Conor McGregor’s SBG Ireland teammate Ciaran Clarke says the former two-division UFC champion is in excellent shape ahead of a rumored return in December.

“The Notorious” last stepped into the Octagon at UFC 264 for a trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier, but that matchup ended after the first round when McGregor broke his leg.

The Irishman appears to be fully healed and recently served as a coach on Season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter, but as of yet, he still doesn’t have an official return fight scheduled.

McGregor’s ongoing absence from the USADA testing pool appeared to dash any hope of him facing his opposing TUF coach Michael Chandler by the end of the year, barring a UFC exemption.

That’s something McGregor is clearly after, with the 35-year-old indicating that he expects to compete sometime in December.

Clarke Says McGregor Is Ready To Fight In December

“The Notorious” still doesn’t have anything actually booked for a December return, but during a recent interview, Clarke claimed his teammate is ready to get back into the cage.

“He’s sharp. He’s just after receiving the jiu-jitsu black belt, which is well deserved because his movement and everything,” Clark told All Out Fighting. “And like I said his mind, his mind for the game, he’s so sharp mentally. And again, that was something that I learned from over there. Resting when you need to, and giving 100% in every session…And as far as December, he’s gonna be really sharp, really ready for that fight.”

Clarke’s comments about McGregor will certainly encourage some fans to get excited about the Irishman fighting in December. Overall, though, it seems like the MMA community is starting to lose patience with the former two-division champion’s habit of teasing a return without having anything concrete to show for it.

Currently unbeaten as a professional, Clarke has been with Bellator since 2019 and is set to return at Bellator 299 later this month to take on Przemysław Górny in the latter fighter’s promotional debut.
